We just want to put a warning out there to Vinylmation collectors. We advise you DO NOT purchase Vinylmation from eBay seller MAXTOYSHOPS. This is the seller from Hong Kong that has come up recently with some sketchy items for sale (Alice in Wonderland, Darkwing Duck). His items, by all accounts, are not legitamite. They are scuffed, with out packaging or accesories and some are being sold before being officially released. These are NOT pre-sales. According to Disney, they are illegitamate sales. You are not getting an official product. They are also selling fake combo vinylmation. Heads and body’s from various figures mixed together. We must band together, get the word out and boycott sellers like this to police our own hobby and keep the market clean. We understand, it is tempting to pick up some of these figures before release, but they are not legit. (I would also be wary of the listings of released stuff) As of 6/16/11, he has a number of figures for sale that have not been released yet. These include but are not limited to:

I highly doubt these “dumpster dive” pieces are included in the LE 1000. And this HK seller sells them as singles, no packaging. |

Cody, by what other collectors have told us, is people pull Disney merchandise out of dumpsters near the factories that make the items. Apparently this is prevalent with pins and is moving to Vinylmation. I don’t think you have to worry about items being re-made in the new mold, there are still figures, such as Disney Afternoons that have already been designed in Original Mold. Good judgement in not completing purchase. I’m sure you can email eBay explaining the situation and get out of it.
I agree with Cody. There should be a boycott of the new mold. They are ridiculous looking. I will not purchase any vinylmation in the new mold.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I think all of his auctions have either been pulled by him or E-bay. I checked earlier when I first read this report to see them and now I can’t find them anywhere. Hopefully this report helped.
I did find some of his auctions. Some are gone but there are still others. People are actually bidding on his items. There is even a Park 5 Chaser without the glasses and the DCL Mickey.
I am glad, I think, that the Disney Afternoon series will grow with a few more releases. As long as Disney doesn’t let the Goof Troop experience happen again, I am excited to keep adding great looking “OLD mold” releases to the collection.

For years, everyone has been leery of scrapper pins. Hopefully, vinyls won’t be allowed to go that direction. If the main problem has been dumpster diving, one would think that Disney would have the factories destroy inferior products internally instead of leaving them to chance. In a capitalistic world, there are ALWAYS going to be individuals with no morals that are going to profit any way they can from these items. A boycott of illegally obtained vinyls is the right thing to do, but there are those collectors that have more money than sense and will stop at nothing to be the first to own, in this case, a vinyl before it’s release. Did you see what the last illegal DarkWing Duck went for? $100+, if I am not mistaken. Come on guys, stop feeding the fire. All of these pieces will be released eventually. Instead of being able to say to your friends, “Check out this rare vinyl I just picked up”, Your friends will say, “You knucklehead, I cannot believe you spent $100+ on a scrapper. I have to find some smarter friends!”
OLD mold vs NEW mold……no words really need be spoken when you look at DCL Mickey on the NEW mold and the other Afternoon characters on the OLD. DCL Mickey looks bloated in the face and like he is about to fall over with his small feet together (uni-shoe). BTW, doesn’t Mickey Mouse have BIG FEET in real life?

I contacted the seller of the Captain Mickey, just to get a response…I asked him where this Vinylmation was from since I hadn’t seen it in any set nor had I seen Disney release any information about it.
He responded about 10 hours later
“I got them from a friend.
I called him today,he said they are come from the trade show.
they are real”
Yeah…right Unfortunately the Vinylmation ended selling for $48.00
I think there should be no Vinylmation Sold on EBay. EBay is not being true to the Vinylation way. You buy a blind box not knowing whats inside. If you have it you should TRADE it. Not turn a profit on it. We cant stop people from selling on EBay. But as a comunity we can boycott buying from these people. I have traded in my Disney Store at the Mall with a fellow Vinyl Collector. So its not something that needs to be done at the parks. I will not buy on Ebay. I want to put my blood, Sweat, Tears and Time into working for every Figure I have. I will only buy from a Disney Store Brick and Mortar, Disney Store Online, And the Park Stores.
I Say shame on the person that buys and A Curse to the people that dumpster Dive to taint the hobby. I like trading and I dont want this to end. If people cant trust other people then why should Disney keep it around?
When I go back to the parks I cant wait to trade with other park guests. As well as with the Cast Members. At my local Disney Store I have built up a relationship with one of the mangers. She is Awesome. Having developed a freindship over this makes me want to buy and trade more. Not sure how you all feel.
Sorry for my rant. I am very into this and to see it take a turn to the darkside makes me sad. I hope things can turn around. I hope EBay sales go away. It cheapens the experiance.
