Walt Disney World not only previewed some of the delicious dishes for the Be Our Guest restaurant opening November 19th as part of New Fantasyland today, but they actually revealed that assorted wines and beers will be served as well. This will make Be Our Guest the first restaurant in the 41 year history of the Magic Kingdom to serve alcohol.
“More than ever, we’re using storytelling and creativity as we develop our menus,” says Maribeth Bisienere, vice president of Food & Beverage and Merchandise for The Walt Disney Company. “We’re continually creating magical experiences, and Be Our Guest Restaurant at New Fantasyland is the next step in the evolution.”
As guests dine amongst either the Ballroom, Rose Gallery, or the West Wing, here are some of the offerings they can choose from:
Mussels Provençal
Grilled Strip Steak with Garlic-Herb Butter and Pommes Frites
Layered Ratatouille
Mousse-Filled Cream Puffs
Gourmet Cupcakes
Pan-seared Salmon with Leek Fondue and Saffron Potatoes
Assorted Cured Meats and Sausages
Lunch, Dinner, and Drink (complete with prices) menus are currently available online through the Walt Disney world website.
I’m sure you would like an explanation as to why they are serving beer and wines with dinner, so here is what Disney provided:
“As part of the overall theming, we wanted to offer wine that enhances the guest experience and complements the French-inspired cuisine,” says Stuart McGuire, Beverage Director, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “The wines focus primarily on France’s famous wine-growing regions, including Champagne, Alsace, Loire, Rhone, Burgundy and Bordeaux.
“We’ll also offer the leading French beer, Kronenbourg 1664,” says McGuire. “And, staying in the general region, we’ll also offer Belgian beers.”
So, what do you think of the menu and the bombshell announcement regarding alcohol in the Magic Kingdom?
Walt would likely be spinning in his grave, but serving it in a classy fashion like this is a far cry from having stands that offer alcohol.
I am disappointed that they felt the need to add alcohol to the Magic Kingdom. It was refreshing that it was the one place where you could take your kids and not have to worry about drunks… unlike other theme parks in the area, including Epcot.
Bad show, Stuart McGuire… very bad show.

I think "this is France" as Lumiere said. They serve alcohol at Club 33 in Disneyland, so its not that far out.
Its ok to have a beer or maybe a glass of wine, but be responsible ..theres plenty of free transportation any way. ;)
Drunks?! As exclusive, and expensive, as this place will be you honestly think it's going to lead to drunks wandering around?! They'd better be rich drunks…
I don't think that BOG will be expensive to get into (it maybe hard to get a reservation), but I do not think that there will be drunks in the park scaring children. I have faith that the people at WDWMK will keep the drunks in check. I think that they will have a certain limit for those who purchase alcohol at BOG. I go to WDW every two years and alcohol in a sit down restaurant during dinner does not sound like a big deal.
Many of us that are frequent or annual visitors to WDW. By Disney evolving and changing this is a step in the right direction and its not like this is the first park to offer alcohol. MK is the most visited park and I can't wait to visit the new Fantasyland expansion with the Be Our Guest French restaurant. Adding an elegant upscale restaurant to MK is needed because all the other parks have them (HS has Brown Derby and couple others, AKP has Tusker House, and EPCOT has too many to mention). Bravo MK and Disney for evolving.
Cinderella's Royal Table isn't upscale?
Magic Kingdom is about the younger set and "Be Our Guest" is not any more 'upscale' than "Cinderella's Royal Table". It is not 'evolving' at all when you step away from Walt's vision – to have a park that focuses on the children instead of the adult… and no child cares about sparkling French wines and Belgium beers. As a retired Leader for WDW and an annual pass holder, I can tell you that your comment does not represent the masses.

Which is why there is Epcot. The Magic Kingdom has always been about the kids… and what he meant by that quote was not the way that you took it. He meant that we shouldn’t dumb down the attractions so that the parents were bored. There is a happy medium where kids and parents are both happy and entertained… that is what he was referring to in that quote.
I agree wholeheartedly Amy. The Magic Kingdom loses just a touch of innocence with the addition of alcohol. There is no way that can be considered a good thing.

Club 33 was part of Walt's vision though and it caters to a different crowd… specifically the ones who spend $40,000 a year for membership… not the masses.
Its only at Dinner and you have to be seated and order food to get a drink. Its not a Bar people. If you think Magic Kingdom is a "Dry Park" now you have no idea. If anything maybe you can get a table at Ohana, now that people won't have to leave Magic Kingdom to get a good meal and have a drink with it.
Was this necessary? No, it probably wasn't. Does this spell the end of MK as we know it? No. Guess what folks, people snuck alcohol into MK before this. 10 min to get to a bar at the Contemporary and come back. People having a glass or two at dinner doesn't lead to stumbling drunks. If they start putting beer car's out side Pirates and CBJ their might be something to worry about.
Very nicely stated, Ron. They serve alcohol pretty much everywhere else on property. and outside of horror stories about New Years Eve, or when they made Pleasure Island free to get into, I’ve never seen problems with stumbling drunks disrupting things.
Alchol is not a problem within MK it is the adults that need to control consumption and themelfs after all choice of beverage should be left up to the. Consumer alchol soes no. Make a place. Bad. After all freedom of choice is what this is all about . Kids are not going to be drinking it

Name a local restaurant in your home town that does not serve either wine or beer. I will be getting a glass of wine with dinner and do not consider myself a "drunk," thank you.
