It’s time for the “Why the heck do I buy Vinylmation when they are released even with my Annual Passholder discount” sale. Today is Cyber Monday, so of course the Disney Store has a ton of stuff on sale. And of course, that includes Vinylmation. Here are just some of the deals, there are plenty more to look at. All Popcorns are just $5! So are Mascots and Mechanical Kingdom, including the online only Ludwig Von Drake.

I’d say I’m done with Disney because they keep doing this, but time and time again I buy at full price! I have no self control and this is really frustrating!
I am proud to say that I didn’t buy the Popcorns at $25 but did buy the whole set at $3.75 each. It was worth spending $100 to get the 25% discount and free shipping.
It doesn’t make me feel any better staying up til all hours fighting the DS.com system for the Comic Con Starz Squid and Figment. Got no sleep that night but will sleep better tonight knowing I got an extra pair for below Disney’s cost!!
I did pay full price for most of the popcorn series but was able to pick up the others for just $5 each! to complete my set that i just wouldn’t have paid full price for .
I too picked up a Comic Con set which was worth it just for the Boy…but I am going to be changing my buying methods….anything open edition without a small LE can wait… Been burnt too many times this year….
I can’t help but feel like they are killing the brand when they do things like this. So many sets are devalued. They are over saturating the market and aren’t slowing down. I think it’s time to stop. I might be selling most but my favorites and give the hobby up.
To be fair, it’s a Black Friday sale, every store in the US puts stuff on sale temporarily. It’s not like HDTVs get devalued because Target sells them cheap for 1 day.
Though inevitably every open window 3″ set will go on sale, all have except D-tour, so at this point anyone who buys them when they come out is crazy.
Apparently it is not a Black Friday deal after all…. It’s still going on today.
Apply cold water and ointment to burn…
In all seriousness, I like to consider myself “Semi-Retired” from the hobby I learned a long time ago that unless it was a “ZOMG I WILL NOT SLEEP UNTIL THIS IS IN MY COLLECTION”…..I simply wait. Sure, in the first few days that a set is out, I’ll stop by and take a look at them, but honestly, unless theres at least 8 figures I want in a set, I won’t get them right on the spot.
The fact that they’ve done this twice in what? Three months? Really shows disrespect to the collectors who rush out to get the sets, or have someone they know/family go get the set for them…Then see news like this. It’s just completely wrong.
If Disney will just adjust their average vinyl prices to say $9.95 and limit production from say 75 million to a more reasonable amount, they can do away with this markdown madness and stop upsetting naive collectors.
Disney had a great thing going early on but got away from it to make a few more dollars. Now it’s coming back to bite them on the rear.
