It is funny at time what information Disney chooses to share and what they do not. Recently, they posted an update of sorts on Park Starz Series 1.
File this under the “going, going, gone” category. We recently learned that Vinylmation Park Starz Series 1 is almost gone. There is a few weeks’ supply remaining of these limited release mystery tins only at D Street in Downtown Disney West Side in Florida. Once they are gone, there are no plans to reorder this series.
First of all, I like the fact that they will not reorder series 1 since series 2 has been released. Second, I like the update.
I wish they kept us more informed about the status of series for Vinylmation. I assume the post is meant to help move the product off the shelves and is less about informing the community… but I’ll take it.
A friend of mine went Friday to D-Street FL and was told they did not have any cases left of PS1 so all that is left is loose tins. I am sure they were gathered from the Park stores and given to D-Street to sell.
This classic set is still #1 on my “Vinylmation Favorite Sets” list!! Long live Park Starz.
Sad to see them go but it really is good for the hobby.
You are right about the retirement being good. I wish they would not have done this last reorder ( for value’s sake) but hopefully it got more PS collectors on board ( for sustainability’s sake).
It took me a long time (6 months) to piece the 1st series together, however, I bought a case of the 2nd. I’m ready for 3rd series now, but am sure it will be next year before we get them. If that’s what it takes to sustain the series and for it not to get dumped, then I can wait. Would ultimately like to see 2 sets per year like the originals Vinylmations were released before Disney went ape crazy.
