CONFIRMED: The Muppets Are Getting Their Own Restaurant at Hollywood Studios – “Pizza Rizzo”

When Pizza Planet’s nearly year-long closure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was announced, we speculated that the Muppets might be taking over the long-standing fast food pizza joint. Well, it’s officially happening now…

Opening in late-2016, guests can experience “Pizza Rizzo” in the Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The restaurant will continue to operate as a counter service pizza restaurant, but guests will find an entirely new theme and better-quality food when it reopens this holiday season. The new name was confirmed by internal documents and permits filed in relation to the ongoing project.

While the exact theme of the restaurant is unknown, it does make sense as Rizzo and his rat family are from New York (and work in food service) in the classic movie “The Muppets Take Manhattan”.

Stay tuned for more details on this breaking story as they become available.

  1. Oh good. So Disney figured it out? They can’t balance a TV show or brilliant film franchise (perhaps because it’s not computer animated), but they CAN profit from the Muppets by putting the actual showcasers LITERALLY on a shelf & sell food with their image. Sorry, my green’s a little grey…

  2. For those that liked the pizza at Pizza Planet it’s being served across from the entrance to Fantasmic at Catalina Eddie’s

  3. It’s too bad they couldn’t keep the Muppets’ tv show going as a summer replacement or during mid-season when nothing else is on. ABC could have done what they did with Gallivant.

  4. I would prefer they build a Pizza Planet resembling the one in “Toy Story.” That would draw far more people than the Muppets at this point.

    • I would strongly disagree as Toy Story already has their own section being built. Besides, they were planning something like this right before Jim’s passing.
