Tower of Terror to Receive Special Overlays, Entertainment, and Merchandise in Farewell Run

Disney California Adventure is hosting a special celebration of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror leading up to its final check-out on January 2, 2017. The salute kicks off during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, September 9 through October 31.

Each night, beginning after twilight, Disney California Adventure park guests will be treated to “Late Check-Out.” Experience The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as you never have before … in complete darkness!

In addition to “Late Check-Out,” guests will find commemorative merchandise as well as special food and beverage items throughout the celebration. You’ll also get the chance to picture yourself “checking out” with a special photo location in front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel marquee, complete with vintage luggage and other nods to the landmark’s story and the glitz and glamor of a bustling young movie town.

Each day during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, the Hollywood Tower Hotel will host special performances by Buena Vista Street’s own Silver Lake Sisters. Dolly, Dottie and Ethel Bounds, veterans of the vaudeville circuit known professionally as Fiddler, Fifer & Practical (or the Silver Lake Sisters) performed throughout their glittering career at the rooftop lounge of the famous hotel. The sisters went on to open Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café on Buena Vista Street, where a wall inside the restaurant features photos, posters and memorabilia from their many performances. They will make their return to the Hollywood Tower Hotel to join fans during this farewell tribute.

Further events leading up to the closure of the ride, to make way for Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, will be announced at a later date.

  1. Death to Marvel and GOTG. Hope whoever takes over after Iger (even Donald Trump) brings ToT back (if plans aren’t canceled due to fans physically rioting and protesting) and sells off Marvel removing every single trace of it from the parks and even if it millions of lost profits. DC is better than Marvel in every which way and even Batman & Robin is far better than GOTG. Three words for you: Bat Credit Card.

    • Millions in lost revenue aren’t a good thing and the fact the the Marvel movies alone are bringing in BILLIONS of dollars, Disney isn’t going to be selling anytime soon. So, what would Walt want to do? Want his parks to stay afloat without losing revenue. If people physically rioted, they would be banned for life. Plus, The Twilight Zone isn’t Disney, Guardians is.

      • All DC movies are better than all Marvel films because they have better heroes (Justice League) who would literally kill every single one of the Avengers. Plus Chris Pratt is one of the worst actors of all time and George Clooney, Chris O’Donnell, and Arnold Schwarzenegger are better in every way. Th only reason Marvel movies are making so much is because kids these days are stupid and I have nothing but disgust for them. Batman & Robin is a great movie and people who hate it are stupid. What Walt would do is force his beliefs and tastes on others like Adolf Hitler and not purchase other studios products. He would focus on feature animation, Mickey, princesses, and build attractions that have no tie-ins at all. Disney needs a new CEO who will purposely kill Marvel and Star Wars and remove all traces of them from the parks in an attempt to scare fans of those IPs away and make them want to never go back, reducing attendance to the point that no one ever complains about crowds again. And who cares if the Twilight Zone isn’t Disney either, it fits the Hollywood theme and there is nothing about Marvel that fits in a Hollywood backlot.

    • The fact that you bring up a Schumacher Batman movie as the reasoning why DC is better than Marvel proves that you are trolling.

  2. Anyone that plans to go to three special events and throw more money down on special merchandise supports Disney’s decision to remodel this ride. If you truly are against the decision then don’t support Disney by throwing more money at them. Your see the same thing in Florida where merchandise for old epcot attractions are still sold. Stop supporting Disney’s terrible decisions

  3. A name change will need to be in the near future since Disney has successfully removed the rides that had anything to do with “California Adventure” (Soaring over Ca and Hollywood Tower of Terror). Yeah the park resembles old Hollywood and the national parks but Jesus… Disappointment after disappointment isn’t making this annual pass holder of several years happy.
