I saw the festival tasting sample tabs, they are $59 for 8 and $109 for 16. So the break even point for the $59 is $7.38 per item and for the $109 it is $6.81. By my count, there are 2 food items that clear the $7.38 threshold and 4 total that clear the $6.81 threshold. I know you get a pin(that they don’t have yet I hear) but doesn’t seem like a great deal. Now if you can use it on the $32 Dom Perignon then sign me up. Obviously all of the mixed alcohol drinks hit that threshold but still not sure if that is worth it to me as I typically avoid the sugar bombs with a splash of alcohol on top. I think you guys used the sampler tickets so any commentary on their value would be appreciated.
I can’t wait to be their. Thanks Jason for taking the time to take the pictures, that is wonderful.
Is this the second food and wine festival for 2016? Seems never ending.
You might be thinking of the Flower & Garden Festival that was held in the spring….it seems like a food & wine festival now because it added food/wine booths a while back.
No beer flights except at the craft beer location… disappointing
Food always skimpy at food and wine for exorbitant price but this year the quality really took a dive we notice. A lot of disappointed faces we noticed. Oh well. Who cares. We have Disney stock and hope they charge $30 for 2 cents worth of a food and Dixie cup of wine. Especially if people willing to stand in 20 minute cue lines to buy it. ? As guests, it not so fun. They also had less staff. Huge lines to spend money.
Thanks Troll
Welcome Disney PR team.
Have to admit, we love F&W. Been going since 2003. But we haven’t purchased any food/drinks at any of the kiosks since Chef Jens stopped running the show. It was always reassuring to see him going from booth to booth checking things out. We still enjoy walking around, taking in the “scene,” buying a t-shirt, coffee mug, etc. Although prices are high, we’d still purchase IF the food looked worth it. We would look at what other guests were coming out with and we decided we’d be better served just eating inside the restaurants in the countries.
Derek, I have to wonder how many people actually will know what a “Dixie Cup” is??? I got a big chuckle from that, but your point is well taken!!!
Frank
Thanks Frank…. Actually a Dixie cup larger than this years pour. I so love the Disney product. I really wish park management cared. From posts here, it seems many don’t really care if they’re ripped off. Though if you really want a chuckle, stand by booths as people leave with their $12 bite and $14 sip saying “is that it?” In there eyes as cast member rudely insists they step aside to accomplish next customer. It’s a money factory! Could be so muc more.
Derek, I agree w you 100%. I really feel for people who never were able to enjoy Disney in the “golden era.” When CM’s talked to you, addressed you, smiled at you. Now I literally have to get into a manger’s face and say, “Good morning,” for most of them to acknowledge me… and there isn’t anyone else around.
You went home after a vacation, after spending a bundle, but felt every penny was worth it, then you sat down and immediately made plans for your next trip!!!
I remember Mickey jelly donuts. Now it’s all prepackaged and brought in by a truck.
Staying at the Beach Club, when it looked like a beach club, there was wicker furniture, a band at night in the lobby, turn down service, a Beaches & Cream that you didn’t need an ADR for. A lobby bar, Riptide, a seafood restaurant, Ariel’s!!!
Had lunch at Hurricane Hannah’s this past summer. Sitting at the bar, a runner brought over my burger and fries. He was standing next to the condiment caddy. I asked for it.. he just said, not my job, the bartender has to get it for you. Lady next to me wanted a lobster roll. Bartender pointed and told her she’d have to go to the counter next door to order and pick up since it wasn’t on the bar menu. She pointed at my burger. Bartender seemed overly pleased in telling her he couldn’t accommodate her order.
Vacations now have to be prepackaged and prearranged from morning till night or you’ll be waiting in line for attractions forever, never get into a restaurant, and wander aimlessly after paying $ 500/day for a family of 4 to get into a park.
Have you been to AbracadaBar??/ I questioned my wine pour. It went unanswered. I’ve not measured, but it is visibly less volume than you get elsewhere. I’ve been told it is a 5 oz pour but an 8 oz (Disney) price.
The Lights of Winter have been gone from Epcot for years. No longer can we enjoy the Osborne Lights at the Holidays either.
The Christmas tree on the Boardwalk lawn looks hopelessly lost there. So tiny!!!
Stayed at the Beach Club Villa’s last holiday season. In the first day, needed 2 light bulbs, 2 tv’s replaced ( I thought it was just a battery in the remotes)… I put the call in and the maintenance guy just came in w the TV’s. Never checked. He said I know its the TV’s and the drier was broken… this all in the first day. Plus a big bucket in the lobby to catch the drip from the ceiling!!!
Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villa’s a year ago. Washer was broken. My wife was told they’d have a part to fix it in 3 -5 days!!! She wasn’t amused and insisted we get a room w one that works, somewhere…. since THAT’s what we paid for. Front desk seemed put off, but accommodated our wish…
I shouldn’t even start on Magic Band issues… but my favorite is when we were at a very nice Disney restaurant at the Grand, the pin wasn’t working, but a CM was able to input something so that the charge went through. I was astounded … thinking that if he can do that, what stops him from doing it for his own gain!!! Nothing happened, but he sure was able to do it w deft ease!!!! Scary!!
I could go on and on and on…BUT….
Like you, I love the Disney Product!! Like you I feel it could be so much more… and if you’re like me, and I think you probably are, you hold out hope for a Disney that just gives you what you are paying for!!!
