A few weeks ago, we were lamenting the loss of the Epcot park history timeline that once adorned the interior breezeway behind Club Cool, Epcot Character Spot, and Fountain View. Well, something pretty amazing happened yesterday…

THE TIMELINE IS BACK! Not only is it back, but it was completely refreshed from top to bottom, giving more details on park history and adding in changes to the parks made since this was introduced back in 2007 for the 25th anniversary of the park.

The timeline used to stop at 2007, but now continues into 2016.

Duffy the Disney Bear may be gone, but he still gets a spot on the Epcot timeline.

Happy to see a good explanation of the history of the Three Caballeros figures that can teach the everyday guest about their historical significance.

There is a pretty large section for the 2016 additions, including Frozen Ever After and Soarin’ Around the World.

I personally am happy to see this return. What do you think?

  1. This would be cool as a giant, walk through type of display that includes scaled models of what Walt originally envisioned for Epcot

  2. The lack of new things between 2004 and 2017 is shocking, just as the price raise is. They should add the ticketprice raises on the timeline…or would that be too shocking?

    • Yes, I totally agree, I know there’s some on the forum who think Disney can never do wrong but as shown, under Bob Iger and worsening management every year in Florida, Disney Parks have basically gone to hell. He’s a media guy. It shows. WDW stockholders happy for it’s media, but have nothing to celebrate about the parks. And they’re not winning long term theme park fans by their laziness and cut backs which I think will really fuc* them in the end.

  3. You know what would make looking at this better? If they did something to remove the smell from inside here. We walked through the building in August and it smelled highly of septic so even if the timeline had been in there then, I wouldn’t have stayed to read it. It was not a pleasant place to be just for the short time we spent walking from one set of doors to the other.

  4. I’ve always loved the timeline, and I’m glad it’s back. But how did they manage to have a spelling error in something like this (1995, “enivronmental”), especially when the word is in the picture right above the misspelled caption!

    • Pat, this is the rarely heard-of “hidden typo”, placed there on purpose by the Imagineers. (Reminds me of some signage I saw in the AFI showcase at the Studios – when I worked there in the late 90’s – indicating that Brandi Norwood [whose dress from Cinderella was on display] was in the movie “Demolition Man”. Uhhhhh……what?) :)

  5. what happened in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015? Not much. Neat timeline. Shows their complacency though which makes me surprised they have this area, and WHY does it always smell like sewage in that building?
