Being the first Sunday of the park’s Food and Wine Festival, I had to park really far away from the entrance of Epcot this afternoon. On the bright side, it did afford the opportunity to see that work had begun on the future site of the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.
Construction vehicles are present and a noticeable amount of shrubbery has been cleared in places. You’ll also notice a plethora of colored markers in the ground.
In case you are unfamiliar with the area pictured above, it is a large section of unused land north of the Universe of Energy, practically in the Epcot parking lot. If rumors are true, the queue and load area for the ride will take place in the Universe of Energy building, with the roller coaster ride system launching guests into a massive show building in this expansion plot.
Guardians of the Galaxy at Epcot will open before Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2021.
It’s not going to be a Coaster.
I have heard some pretty reliable sources say that it will be.
They’re not reliable. Ignore those morons at all costs! ????
I will start ignoring them when they start getting things wrong, which recently hasn’t been happening.
I say that Guardians of the Galaxy will be a coaster!
It won’t.
I know you are but what am I?
Yes, it will be an indoor coaster.
I hope it wont be a coaster. can not ride them
Why don’t they just bulldoze the Wonders Of Life pavilion?
Food and wine festival…pay all that money to get in so you can pay even more money
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! Worth every penny! Just sorry I can only spend two days there this year.
I kind of hate it when Disney digs up what forests and wetlands they have left. One thing I’ve always enjoyed is how as you are driving in, there is so much vegetation and deer and wild turkeys. It makes it feel more sucluded in a way.
E…word!
Disney has plenty of forest space and wetlands at WDW. The majority of the land on property has been set aside for these purposes. Do we want to complain that Disney isn’t improving their parks, or complain that they are removing a tiny plot of land to improve a park?
Disney world is loosing the Disney feel. Not sure I like that. Long gone is the park for everyone that Walt Disney wanted. I have been going since 1976. It was better then and for 10 years later. To expensive and much more difficult to get the experience you want.
It’s “losing” not “loosing”, and it’s “too” not “to” for Pete’s sake! How do people get these wrong?
I’m pretty sure that clearing is for the gondola terminal. I noticed it as well this past weekend, as well as the survey stakes that run all along the exit road down to World Drive.
I can’t wait to ride it and I love Guardians of the Galaxy!
