Looks like filming for “Maleficent 2” should be getting underway very soon as Angelina Jolie seems to have chosen the sequel to 2014’s “Maleficent” over the title role in Universal’s “The Bride Of Frankenstein”. Universal’s attempt to reinvigorate the classic Universal monsters with their “Dark Universe” seems to be on hold after the disappointing box office of “The Mummy”, which makes Jolie’s decision a bit easier.
From Omega Underground:
Disney is looking to move forward with their Maleficent sequel with Norwegian director Joachim Rønning (Pirates 5, Marco Polo) and Angelina Jolie reprising the titular role.
Omega Underground has learned that the sequel has entered pre-production and is set to begin filming on April 16th in London with an expected wrap date aiming for August. Jolie had been weighing between this and Universal’s Bride of Frankenstein and it looks like she’s made her decision.
We’ve also learned that Disney has hired Patrick Tatopoulous to handle the film’s production design. Patrick is best known for films such as Justice Leauge, Batman v Superman, Independence Day, and Dark City.
