New Tokyo Disney Resort App To Offer Tickets, Shopping and Dining

Tokyo Disney Resort will soon have their own official app for smartphones. The app is set to launch sometime during 2018. Oriental Land Company, who are the majority shareholder and operator of Tokyo Disney Resort, will release the app to help ease overcrowding issues in the park.

The app will allow guests to:

  • Book restaurant reservations
  • Make hotel reservations
  • View park maps
  • View wait times for attractions
  • Buy merchandise
  • Buy park tickets.

When the app is available, lines for merchandise at the end of the day will decrease drastically because it will allow guests to collect their purchases at the resort or have them delivered. Earlier this month we reported about a rumored third park being added to Tokyo Disney Resort which will attempt to reduce crowding in the two existing parks.

Tickets purchased through the app will be compatible with the new e-ticket system recently introduced at the resort. Oriental Land also have plans to install automatic ticket machines at the entrance to each of the parks and use a facial recognition system for annual pass holders by 2020.

The app will no doubt assist these future ventures for the resort. When initially released, the app will only be available in Japanese, but there are plans to add more international languages later. Oriental Land plans to use user data and activity from the Tokyo Disney Resort app to help develop the park in the future.
