One of the most beloved songs in Epcot’s rich songbook has gotten a glorious new reimagining, courtesy of the magicians of Walt Disney Imagineering and some very special musicians.
“Golden Dream,” is the patriotic theme song for The American Adventure pavilion’s attraction, which features a tribute to some of the most quintessential moments in American history, hosted by American author Mark Twain and statesman Benjamin Franklin. Working with famed pop/rock music producer Harvey Mason Jr., the team infused modern, “cinematic sensibilities” into the new version of the song, while keeping true to its original vision.
The American Adventure recently reopened at Epcot, enhanced with a digital projection system, new speakers, and updates to the finale sequence. As part of this refurbishment, the attraction’s anthem was re-orchestrated to give it a fuller, richer and more contemporary sound. Disney has provided a behind the scenes look at the making of the new music below (or watch here if it isn’t displaying for you):
You can hear the song in its final form in the new show below (or watch here):
“Glorious” new reimagining? That’s a bit strong Tom. haha. At least in my opinion, the new song is nowhere near as good as the original. It’s like when Sheryl Crow remade Sweet Child of Mine by Guns n Roses. Sure, it’s still pretty good (because it was an amazing original song), but it’s a poor man’s version of the original.
Loved the update to the show, but imho, this iteration of “Golden Dream,” both musically and visually is the weakest of all.
Way too many entertainment and sports types. It didn’t take much “Imagineering” to do what was done.
Our president is a former game show host. A former Mr. Olympia and action star was Governor of CA, and a former professional wrestler and action star was Governor is MN. There are too many entertainment and sports types because that is exactly what America revolves around. The only thing that would’ve made the film more accurate is if they added a poop emoji.
In my opinion, the new version is a bit more modern than the more Gospel-focused previous version, but lacks the depth, richness and connection to the video that made the former cause so much audible weeping in the theater.
I find it so interesting that focused on American Adventure that didn’t need a change (besides Lance Armstrong etc). You’d think they would like to update the movie in Canada or add an exhibit to Innoventions. Better yet- a better counter service at Liberty Inn. BBQ perhaps.
