Casey’s Corner is the legendary quick service located on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. Typically, you can expect massive hot dogs, french fries, and the awesome corn dog nuggets on the menu. Recently, the frozen lemonade slushy has been changed, making way for the Mint Julep.
Mint Juleps have been a staple of Disneyland’s New Orleans Square for as long as we can remember. We recently talked about The Crystal Palace getting a jambalaya and wishing they copied the Disneyland recipe instead of free handing it. Hopefully, the Magic Kingdom version of the famous Mint Julep holds up, but does it?
Odwalla Mint Julep Lemonade Slushy – with a souvenir Mickey Straw – $6.49
The first major difference between the Walt Disney World version and the Disneyland one is that ours is frozen, Disneyland’s isn’t. Mickey straws aren’t particularly good at slushes, this is no exception. Pick up a regular straw at one of the condiment stations to better enjoy. Overall flavor is lemonade with a hint of mint, very similar to the Disneyland version, but a much more refreshing take on it. Fortunately, as the slushy melts down it’s still extremely drinkable, which will be pleasant during these hot summer months. We could do without the Mickey straw and a dollar lowered on the price tag. Overall, it’s a solid frozen beverage choice that you can mobile order through the MyDisneyExperience app and not wait 20 minutes in a Starbucks line for. It’s not Disneyland, but it’ll hold us over until our next visit.
no booze?
Next time I go, I’m thinking of sneaking in the mini bottle of bourbon, just for the mint julep. I wonder how many others have done the same.
