PIXAR Pier opens June 23 and today we are getting a sampling of what to expect from Lamplight Lounge, the eatery replacing Ariel’s Grotto. The lounge will serve up “California gastro-pub” cuisine along with cocktails. Let’s take a look at what guests will be ordering when it opens!
Appetizers in Lamplight Lounge are called “Shorts” and one example are these Potato Skins. These Yukon gold potatoes come with brown-butter caper yogurt, smoked paprika aioli, and Manchego cheese.

Another appetizer is the Carne Asada Roll, a twist on sushi that includes New York Grilled Strip Steak, roasted Fresno chili salsa, escabeche, and crema.

The Bigger Bites menu offers a vegetarian entree, the Spinach Salad. It combines spinach leaves with warm wild mushrooms, a soft poached egg, and charred onion vinaigrette. The salad is topped with shiitake “bacon” and comes with blue cheese toast.

On the spicier side is the Chicken Sandwich, a piece of crispy chicken flavored with spicy chili glaze, topped with vinegar slaw and pineapple butter, and served on a Amish bun with a side of malted fries.

The “Budding Artists” menu (also known as kids menu) includes a PB&J Roll. The dish features creamy peanut butter inside a whole wheat “roll” with a drizzling of strawberry jelly. It comes with a side of fruit and a “flower pot” of hummus and vegetables.

Do these sound good to you?
