Debuting on May 14th in stores and online, the newest collaboration between Disney x Coach has put the typical light & airy fairytales in a darker and vibrant realm.
Named “A Dark Fairy Tale”, the new gothic-inspired collection has your favorite princesses showcasing their more rebellious side, specifically Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. The new look reminds me of the Disney series, “Descendants”, with Snow White’s poisoned apple being at the forefront of the line, displayed across backpacks, handbags and t-shirts. There’s also an ode to the Dwarfs in Snow White, as their names are splashed across purses and individual patches. One shirt features a gloomy picture of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
This line will have things for both men and women, like handbags, sneakers, backpacks, jackets, wallets, and more.
Stuart Vevers, the Coach Creative Director says, “I have always loved Disney – both the movies and the fantasy worlds created that have captured my imagination for many decades. It was fun to explore the darker side of these stories and mix Disney’s nostalgic charm with Coach’s creativity to bring my memories from these fairy tales to life within our world of accessories and ready-to-wear. The Disney spirit truly reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach.”

Somehow, Disney and “darkside” do not fit together.
I have seen this “darkside” trend in shows presented at WDW over the last decade plus, and I do not like it.
The GOOD triumphant over EVIL has been the foundation in many stories, however, it seems now the depiction of the DARKSIDE has grown to take on a much larger and dramatic role.
What ever happened to “G”rated Disney??
