Football, that’s Soccer for Americans, is a very popular sport in Europe and with the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia coming up, Disneyland Paris released images of a special Disneyland football jersey for children. From June 1, this shirt will be available in the parks for €19.99 (around $23.30 USD). The jersey will be sold at Disney Clothiers and Sir Mickey in Disneyland Park, World of Disney in Disney Village, and in Disney’s Hotel New York and Disney’s Sequioa Lodge.
Disneyland Paris has had a long-lasting relationship with sports. The Junior Ryder Cup 2018, a team golf competition between Europe and the United States will be held at Disneyland Paris. Golf Disneyland in Paris is the largest golf course of all the Disney resorts, with 27 holes, spread across 91 hectares.
But, there are more unique events that visited the Resort. In 1994, Disneyland Paris was the arrival location of the Paris Dakar (now called Dakar Rally). Also in 1994, the park was the décor of the finish of the Tour de France (one of the biggest bicycle races in Europe), and the same Tour started there in 1997.
More sports came in September 2016, with the first edition of the Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon. In 2018 the event will be organized for the third time in collaboration with runDisney, now called the Disneyland Paris Magic Run Weekend. There are, next to the Kids Races, three runs: 5K, 10K and the Half Marathon. This year’s theme will be Disney Villains. I wonder how many runners we will see with the new Disneyland Paris football shirt!
I’d love to see an adult version sold at WDW in more places than just the Springs.
