Pixar Fest special menu items keep appearing all over the Disneyland Resort! At New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park, you can find a new special flavor of soup at the Royal Street Veranda for $11.49. Royal Street Veranda is well known and liked for its simple, yet delicious, menu of select soups, served in a sourdough bread bowls. You can also request to have your soup served in a cup and take your bread bowl to go. The new ‘Potato-Leek Soup’ is available now during Pixar Fest.
As a self-proclaimed soup enthusiast, I was excited about this new menu item! It is not often that a new soup flavor makes itself available at the Happiest Place on Earth. However, I was disappointed that my soup had no visible fresh greens topping it, which is featured on the menu picture. I asked if my soup was mistakenly not topped with the greens, and if I could have more, but my request was denied. I was told that the soup already had been topped with leeks, they had just sank into the soup. Disappointing, as I enjoy the crisp texture that fresh greens bring when topping a hot soup.
Moving on, my first spoonful revealed just how hearty the soup really was. Big chunks of potatoes and yes, the leeks were found mixed into the soup.
This soup was not disappointing. So much flavor! I was pleasantly surprised to taste what felt like a ‘home-cooked’ soup, made with real vegetables, cream and broth. I could taste the rich flavors of vegetables, potatoes and cream blended perfectly! This soup hit close to home for me with its heartiness and rich flavors. The sourdough bread bowl is always the perfect pairing with Disney’s soups. The sourdough was exceptionally delicious with the potato-leek flavor. No leftovers for me with this one! Hurry to Royal Street Veranda to try a bowl before Pixar Fest ends September 3rd.
