This morning River Belle Terrace quietly reopened for breakfast (as rumored here last week), and we were there to try out the new menu. Previously a favorite breakfast spot for many guests, River Belle Terrace stopped serving breakfast prior to the refurbishment which saw the restaurant converted from counter service to table service. We are happy to see it return!
The new menu is greatly expanded and offers some more sophisticated items. The Mark Twain ($17) and Mickey-shaped Pancakes ($15) have made a return, all be it with a hefty price increase. New items include a Short Rib Skillet ($19), Southern-fried Bone-in Pork Chop ($21), Becky Thatcher’s Fried Green Tomato ($16), Country Biscuits & Gravy ($17), and for lighter options a Mixed Berry Parfait ($9), and Monkey Bread ($8). The Monkey Bread has been added as a dessert to the lunch and dinner menu as well.
We sampled the:
Mickey-shaped Pancakes
These were delicious! They come with fresh berries and your choice of Applewood-smoked Bacon or Chicken Sausage. Buttermilk pancakes that are light and fluffy, perfectly golden brown, and shaped like Mickey, how can you go wrong!
Mark Twain
A standard offering of a Freshly Baked Biscuit, Signature Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs, and your choice of Applewood-smoked Bacon or Chicken Sausage. The potatoes are well seasoned and the biscuit is crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect when you want to try a little bit of everything!
Short Rib Skillet
Definitely a hearty breakfast! Served with Slow-cooked Short Rib, Signature Potatoes, Peppers and Onions, Sunny Side-up Eggs, and Texas Toast. It was well seasoned and the short rib had just a touch of sweetness to it.
Southern-fried Bone-in Pork Chop
Served with Bacon Gravy, Signature Potatoes, and Sunny Side-up Eggs, it was very flavorful. The pork chop was well cooked and the bacon gravy had chunks of bacon in it. Definitely a favorite! Starting today, it will also be available with lunch and dinner, and will be included as an option in the Fantasmic! Dining Package.
Monkey Bread French Toast
This will be a welcomed addition to the menu all day long. For breakfast it is served with Maple Syrup, but for lunch and dinner it will be served as a dessert with Caramel Sauce. It was a hit! Nice and crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. It is served with Candied Pecans and a wonderful Creme Anglaise.
Overall, the portion sizes and quality are greatly improved. The items are rather expensive for breakfast, but will definitely fill you up and can be shared. Breakfast is currently walk up only, but expect to eventually see it as an option for reservations.
They used to have this amazing cinnamon French toast. Was hoping it would be back.
