Grab yourself a brand new Iridescent Cupcake, now available at select Disneyland Resort locations, and be prepared to discuss it with strangers.
This beautiful confection is described as a “Confetti and Passion Fruit Cupcake with Passion Fruit and Mango filling finished with a tri-colored White Chocolate Champagne Mousse.” The creativity involved only slightly outpaces the flavor. It is a signature Disney cupcake. Which means it’s wonderful. One caveat: it is extremely sweet. Not sure how they have sugar left for anything else.
Maintaining the resoundingly popular trend, this unicorn-styled delicacy joins the ranks of iridescent Disney headbands and spirit jerseys. The frosting reminds of the slightly obscure Rainbow Unicorn character from Inside Out. Though the ears and golden horn are more akin to Buttercup, the sarcastic plush in Toy Story 3.
In their official description, Disneyland says the unicorn cupcake is “first up.” There is little doubt additional iridescent edibles will soon descend upon the Disneyland Resort. No small handful of similar creations are already thrilling guests of Walt Disney World. The inquiries and impassioned glances this particular cupcake elicited are evidence enough the west coast contingent is eager to support our own sweet supply.
Find the first Disneyland Iridescent Cupcake at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe on Main Street. Clarabelle’s Ice Cream and Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe, inside Disney California Adventure, and The Coffee House, at the Disneyland Hotel, will also carry the confetti cupcake.
