RUMOR: Construction Set to Begin on New Nighttime Show at Epcot to Replace IllumiNations

After much speculation about a new nighttime show coming to Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon, it may finally be happening. At a Reedy Creek Improvement District meeting today, a budget in excess of $2 million was approved for electrical upgrades for the lagoon.

The budget includes $1.8 million for “electrical upgrades” and another $325,000 for applicable materials. Another $220,000 was allocated for engineering, inspection, and survey work.

The project includes a new pipe being drilled to the islands in the lagoon from the American Adventure Pavilion.

There is no timeline for the work to be completed at this time, but we will share more details as they come out.

  1. We love Illuminations! Will be so sad to see it go but I am sure they will put something else spectacular there.

  2. It’s a shame as Illuminations is the last show that’s not a promotion. The next show certainly will have nothing to do with guest experience, and more to do with sales. Cross promotion. Not good for paying guests.
