Today was one of those zip-loc-a-dee-doo-dah days at the Magic Kingdom…
Months in the making, the Ziploc sponsorship of Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom finally got underway today with the distribution of complimentary bags at the attraction.
Distributed in limited quantities daily in the barn located in the attraction queue, the bags feature custom artwork and are being given out to help guests keep valuables dry while on the log flume attraction.
Splash Mountain does not feature lockers like Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so the offering of the complimentary bags is a welcome addition.
It is unknown exactly how many bags a day will be distributed. In an effort to keep things green, guests are urged to recycle the bags after the ride in the marked barrels.
Surprisingly, a lot of guests are recycling them.
I don’t know about you, but I’m taking mine home as a nifty free souvenir.
I don’t get it……get rid of plastic straws, but and out plastic baggies? You could actually recycle either one.
Welcome to two months ago.
Straws/lids are single use. Ziploc is multi-use.
This argument is starting to get annoying. “Multi-use” should be used in the case of a person actually using it multiple times. The intent of being multi-use is worthless if they get thrown away.. like straws. If a child brings pretzels in a ziplock bag to school for snack, it’s going into the trash..not coming home to be rinsed. Sure, it’s a cute bag but when people clean out their backpacks at the end of the day, it’s heading into the little trash can in their hotel room.
This is true, if you put certain consumables/food in a ziploc bag, however, we reuse ziploc bags for many things like chargers/cords, toiletry bottles, crayons, legos, and the multi-use list could go on. Also, there are some people who do wash and reuse ziploc bags too. So I think there are plenty of realistic instances when ziploc bags can be used for more than once then thrown away.
Odds these are going to go into the water, jam up the ride, and close it on a daily basis?
No.
Anything you can get for “FREE” from WDW is coming home with me!
