Included in all of Thursday’s announcements related to Disney+, the company’s streaming service, a new series was announced… one that should excite Disney Parks fans.
Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced on the quarterly earnings conference call that a docu-series which will take viewers behind the scenes at Walt Disney Imagineering is coming to the streaming service. Iger boasted that the series will include “stories we’ve never really told before and images we have never shared.” This would be a rare look inside the usually secretive organization. A feature documentary, “The Imagineering Story,” has been developing over several years, including a preview at the 2013 D23 Expo, but has yet to be released. There’s no word yet if this has merged into the docu-series, or if this will be a separate project.
Iger added that this was one of several docu-series being developed for Disney+. A new series about the women of Disney’s animation department was revealed in October.
The curtain is being pulled back, and the stories behind some of Disney’s most beloved attractions and parks will finally come to light. We will update you as more information is uncovered.
