REVIEW: Chicken Dumplings Added To Mr. Kamal’s Menu at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Mr. Kamal’s quick service location in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom has introduced a new Chicken Dumpling with Ponzu sauce offering to its already extremely limited menu. The dumplings replaced the falafel, and join the classic Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries, and the hummus offerings.

Chicken Dumplings – $5.99

Each order comes with three dumplings and a side of ponzu sauce.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the overly powering vinegar flavor it gave. The citrus flavors of the sauce were hard to pick out and the taste of the chicken and other fillings of the dumpling were undetectable mainly because of the strength of the sauce.

I did try a dumpling without any sauce to get an idea of how they were prepared. They were warm, fresh, and crispy… just like a fried dumpling should be.

Overall, while the dumplings were tasty without the sauce (or extremely light sauce if you really want a kick), it’s still a snack that can be found in many places around the resort, which doesn’t give it a huge appeal. The order only came with three dumplings, which was barely enough to fill me up, even as a snack, and at the $5.99 price point, I’d probably stick with something more unique, adventurous, and larger-portioned like Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries.
