BREAKING: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Delayed Until Spring 2020 at Walt Disney World

While up until very recently, all signs pointed to a Fall 2019 opening for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, but Disney’s focus on the massive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge project and contrasting silence on the upcoming Railway attraction gave us some doubts.

Well now, in an announcement about Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to Toontown at Disneyland Park, Disney has stealthily announced that plans for the attraction are delayed and that it is now planned to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Spring 2020.

No further details were announced regarding specific opening dates for the attraction on either coasts, although it is interesting to note that they mentioned that special details will make each iteration of the attraction slightly different. We’ll have to see it to believe it.

  1. Wow! Another Disney Construction project behind schedule. No surprise here…even when the construction is hidden behind building walls–allowing for daytime work. We see this all the time: think about converting Norway to Frozen, the Epcot margarita stand, etc. I’d wager that we will be lucky to see this before June or July 2020.

  2. Just my opinion but Disney cares more about it’s movie studios and entertainment enterprises than it does the parks. Very evident in the budget cuts and poor upkeep of the rides at the parks. It’s sad but I guess the parks don’t make the CEOs money.

  3. Not happy to lose The Great Movie Ride. The Park is called “Hollywood Studios” and it’s losing everything Hollywood? There is no backstage tour, no Movie Ride. I think I am not Happy because I don’t like the new animation figures used. I think they look Cheap. It’s like the lazy way to draw Disney Characters. I especially hate the new Goofy, he looks like Bum, all dirty, sometimes with flies around him, unshaven. He scary not lovable and he definitely is not “Goofy” he’s creepy. Mickey and MInnie look under nourished – just simple stick figures. Is it because the new animators can’t draw the authentic Mickey? Walt Disney would never have let this happen to his beloved Mouse and Crew. Never. So Sad, that the new Imagineers are not qualified to keep up the Quality and Ideas of Walt.
