Let’s take a quick look around Magic Kingdom. It was overcast and kind of rainy, but there’s always fun to be had in the park.

Tomorrowland Speedway

The Tomorrowland Speedway still has a way to go before it reopens this May. Crews have taken to working on the landscaping now. It’s looking like a nice change of pace.

The wall near the Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. has been mostly finished, with new railings installed. Still needs a coat of paint, however.

More landscaping work, this time near the loading area.

They’re doing some concrete work on the existing track, as well.

You can see the supports in place for the new track bars on the redesigned sections of the track.

Other Projects

Nearby they’re doing some work on the outside of Space Mountain. Hopefully it’s for a repainting, it’s been around two years since they last gave it some love.

With the moat partially drained, they’re taking this as a chance to do some other projects. Cosmic Ray’s was getting a fresh coat of paint.

The moat is primarily drained to allow construction on the expansion of the western castle pathway.

It will give a much needed breath of fresh air to this tight area. It’s one of the worst bottlenecks in the park on busy days.

Some mystery work going on at the PeopleMover! Nothing major, I’m sure, but I’m keeping an eye on it.

The mystery project outside the park beyond the train berm is moving along as well. Lots of dirt being moved in various directions. I’m really curious to find out what this is.

We first saw these pins at Disneyland, but they’ve finally made their way out to the Magic Kingdom.

A whole new line of “Briar Rose Gold” colored clothing and accessories has also come out recently. You can check out the other photos here. It’s like Rose Gold 2.0.

Pirates Ticket Holder ($8.99)

I found this fun park ticket sleeve that goes on your lanyard. This one has the new Pirates of the Caribbean artwork on it that we’ve previously seen in the new pin releases.

We also discovered new mugs at the Magic Kingdom Starbucks location, The Main Street Bakery. These appear to be replacing the old “You Are Here” line. There’s a design for each park.

That’s it for today! Keep checking back with us as summer inches closer and these projects around Magic Kingdom get closer to their conclusion!

  1. I wonder if the outside park work will be related to the smoking ban. Could it be for a large smoking area away from all the transpiration options?

  2. So.. have we given up that the work opposite of TRON will be a primeval diorama using the AA dinos from Universe of Energy?
