On a trek through Epcot today, we discovered that the entrance at the International Gateway had moved under a temporary tent (and new location), so we decided to backtrack and show you all the changes and construction in the area.
The park entrance is now located right across from the World Traveler shop, and walls are up all the way to the FriendShip dock.
From afar, you can see that they’ve walled off over half of the previous entrance point and security checkpoint.
This acts as the only entrance/exit in the area.
Security is in front of the ticket booths, hiding under the longer canopy. There’s a narrow path from the ticket booths in between the walls and the shop that leads to the new entrance point.
More of the construction, which lies behind the planters:
The FriendShip boats are still running, despite the walls going about halfway down the existing dock.
With the Skyliner set to open this Fall, and the International Gateway being one of its main stations, all this construction could make for improved security and bag check areas, plus wider areas to accommodate for higher influx of traffic once the Skyliner opens.
We’ll keep you updated on any further changes to this area as construction progresses!
