Disney Vacation Club has officially cancelled the recently-announced Star Wars: Galactic Gathering at World ShowPlace pavilion in Epcot that was to take place on April 10th.

“Due to a change in our intergalactic entertainment offerings, Star Wars: Galactic Gathering has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to continue checking back for other special Member events and offerings.”

The event promised Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests Star Wars-themed foods and beverages, Star Wars character meets, as well as photo ops with Star Wars set pieces and props, and more.

Many speculate that this was due to low projected attendance numbers, as the event was announced with fairly short notice and was in the upper tier for priced events. The cost per person was $225 for adults and $210 for children, plus separate Theme Park admission was required.

No replacement for the event has been announced.

Glad to see people have common sense. Does Disney not realize their base is losing some affection for their product as the prices go up and up? We’re staying home this year.
