Everything You Need to Know: Oga’s Cantina

No self-respecting remote outpost on the edge of the galaxy would call itself a smuggler’s planet without a cantina, and Black Spire Outpost is no exception.

WHO: Oga Garra and DJ R-3X

Oga Garra

Oga’s Cantina is ran by Oga Garra, the boss of the Black Spire Outpost, known for gathering a crowd of some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. Oga’s not normally at her Cantina, as she’s most often collecting payments remotely and hardly ever seen by the locals around. Her patrons come from all across the galaxy to try out her famous drinks, created with “otherworldly” methods, and her collection of procured shipments of beers, ciders and wines.

DJ R-3X

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review SWGE 10

DJ R-3X, also known as REX, will be providing all travelers with interesting music from across the galaxy, having given up his old job as a Starspeeder 3000 pilot for Star Tours. Turns out that the DJ-R3X droid is voiced by none other than Paul Reubens. That’s right, Pee-Wee Herman will be voicing the DJ droid at Oga’s Cantina. He previously voiced RX-24 on Star Tours, but Rex has since retired from his days as Starspeeder pilot and moved on to becoming a DJ, hence the new spiel.

WHERE: Oga’s Cantina

Black Spire Outpost Map

Oga’s Cantina will be located near Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run if you’re looking for a place to celebrate after a successful flight, or in need of a drink if you didn’t do as well as you’d have liked. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will be near the cantina as well.

Visitors come to this notorious local watering hole to unwind, conduct shady business, and maybe even encounter a friend… or a foe. Run by an intriguing alien proprietor, Oga Garra, the cantina adheres to a strict code of conduct (and a time limit) that tries to keep its unruly patrons in check. But with a history of being a smugglers’ safe haven and a popular stopping point for those seeking to avoid the authorities, you can bet that the cantina has a story or two to tell.

Oga’s Cantina is the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. And you never know when a stormtrooper or a familiar face will show up. Patrons of the cantina come from across the galaxy to sample the famous concoctions created with exotic ingredients using “otherworldly” methods, served in unique vessels. With choices for kids and libations for adults, the cantina will make for a great stop!

Morning Specialties

Spiran Caf – Peru Alto Mayo Organic Joffrey’s Coffee, Orange Marmalade, Gosling’s 151 Rum, Vanilla Whipped Cream, and Citrus Zest – $16.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review breakfast beverages SWGE 38

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review breakfast beverages SWGE 1

Simply delicious! The citrus zest is a bit heavy, up front and on the back-end, but we love citrus, so it’s good with us. The 151 rum is well-masked, but also well-felt, so be prepared.

Bloody Rancor – Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, Spicy Bloody Mary Mix, and Rancor Bone – $17.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review beverages and snacks ambiance SWGE 10

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review breakfast beverages SWGE 2

The Bloody Rancor is an extremely spicy Bloody Mary. There’s nothing special to it to differentiate it from other Bloody Marys, but it’s still solid if you want one. The meringue bone is kind of awkward, as it has nothing to do with the flavor and is just there for looks. We would appreciate a garlic breadstick more. The meringue doesn’t taste good, either.

Blue Bantha – Blue Milk served chilled with Bantha-inspired Vanilla-Butter Sugar Cookie – $13.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review alcoholic drinks SWGE 3

In the case of the Blue Bantha, the cookie on top with the nut layer is good, but the milk just tastes odd, and is somewhat of a disappointment. This is a definite pass for us.

Black Spire Brew – Cold Brew Joffrey’s Coffee, Honey, Falernum, Passion Fruit, and Citrus – $7.00

Moogan Tea – Gold Peak Unsweetened Tea, Chocolate Milk, Vanilla, and Cinnamon – $7.00

Tarine Tea – Gold Peak Unsweetened Tea, Peach, Huckleberry, and Mint – $6.50

Double Espresso – $4.00

Cappuccino – $5.00

Café Latte – $5.00

Orange Juice – $5.00

Rising Moons Overnight Oats – Oats, Dragon Fruit, Yogurt, Seasonal Fruit – $7.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review breakfast beverages SWGE 13

For something so basic, this is the ultimate execution of overnight oats. It’s amazing and served chilled, as it should be. The fruit is super fresh, too. This exceeded our expectations!

Mustafarian Lava Roll – $6.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review breakfast beverages SWGE 33

The Mustafarian Lava Roll is basically an Oreo-topped cinnamon roll merged into croissant form! Very good.

Afternoon and Evening Specialties

Concoctions with Alcohol

Featuring a wide range of classic and unique spirits found throughout the galaxy with a mixture of tastes and flavors to liven your taste buds.

Fuzzy Tauntaun – Ciroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Simply Orange with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, and “Buzzz” Foam – $15.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review alcoholic drinks SWGE 7

Fuzzy Tauntaun was the most unique of the specialty drinks we tried, providing a tingling sensation on the tongue and lips. There’s a strong citrus taste that’s sweet, but enjoyable. This is definitely one of the must-order items on the menu.

Jedi Mind Trick – Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit and Rose Vodka, John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum, Bols Blue Curaçao, White Grape Juice, Lime Juice, and Grapefruit Bitters – $14.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review alcoholic drinks SWGE 2

Jedi Mind Trick is a sweet tiki drink with tropical juices, but not much in terms of flavor.

Dagobah Slug Slinger –– Herradura Reposado Tequila, Bols Blue Curacao, Citrus Juices, Ginger, Herbs, and Bitters – $15.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review alcoholic drinks SWGE 5

The Slug Slinger is sweet and herbal, but has a medicinal quality to it that is overwhelming.

Jet Juice – Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, Cedilla Açaí Liqueur, White Grape Juice, and Lemon Juice – $14.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review alcoholic drinks SWGE 1

Jet Juice is too sweet and unbalanced. I’d skip it, even if you like strong drinks. It’d be nice if Jet Juice had more of the bourbon come through.

The Outer Rim – Patrón Silver Tequila, Cedilla Açaí Liqueur, Lime Juice, Pure Cane Sugar, Black Salt, and Exotic Fruit Purée – $16.00

T-16 Skyhopper – Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bols Melon Liqueur, Kiwi, and Half & Half – $15.00

Bespin Fizz – Bacardi Superior Rum, Yuzu Purée, Pomegranate Juice, White Cranberry Juice, and Cloud Swirl – $17.00

Yub Nub – Malibu Pineapple Rum, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Citrus Juices, and Passion Fruit, Served in a Souvenir Endor Mug – $42.00

The passion fruit in the Yub Nub overpowers here, but not in a bad way. This is your tropical rum-based drink. It isn’t life changing, but serves its purpose as the fruity rum drink on the menu. Not to mention that amazing Endor mug…

Gold Squadron Lager (5.0% ABV) – Blue Point Brewing Company, Patchogue, NY – $12.00

The winner from the flight. It has a very different flavor profile that is subtle, with hints of fruit and then a smooth taste of lavender that’s definitely present, but not overpowering.

White Wampa Ale (4.5% ABV) – Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA – $13.00

Classic hefeweizen. The banana notes hit first, but are subtle. The citrus flavor lingers long after the first sip.

Gamorrean Ale (5.8% ABV) – New Belgium Brewing Company, Fort Collins, CO – $12.00

A hoppy red ale that hits you in the face with a strong, roasted flavor, before the citrusy grapefruit notes hit. Excellent!

Bad Motivator IPA (6.0% ABV) – Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Chico, CA – $12.00

As the name might imply, this is a very average IPA.

Cider on Tap

Spice Runner Hard Cider (5.0% ABV) – Angry Orchard Cider Company, Walden, NY – $11.00

Wine on Tap

Toniray – Goldschmidt Vineyards, Sonoma, CA – $13.00

Imperial Guard – Goldschmidt Vineyards, Sonoma, CA – $16.00

Concoctions without Alcohol

Showcasing a combination of beverages found throughout the galaxy which yield vibrant colors along with sweet, tangy, or savory taste and fruity or spicy flavors.

Cliff Dweller – Citrus Juices, Coconut, Hibiscus-Grenadine, and Seagram’s Ginger Ale, Served in a Souvenir Porg Mug – $32.00

Everyone agreed that the Cliff Dweller was the surprise favorite. It’s well-balanced and tasty with a blend of citrus, coconut, and hibiscus grenadine. We didn’t even care there wasn’t any alcohol in this. It’s a clear winner, and the mug is very cute.

Hyperdrive (Punch It!)Powerade Mountain Berry Blast, White Cranberry Juice, Black Cherry Purée, and Sprite – $6.00

Jabba Juice – Simply Orange with Pineapple, Kiwi, Cantaloupe, and Blueberry Popping Pearls – $6.50

Blue Bantha – Blue Milk served chilled with Bantha-inspired Vanilla-Butter Sugar Cookie – $13.00

Blurrgfire – Odwalla Lemonade, Pomegranate Juice, and Habanero-Lime – $7.00

Carbon Freeze – Powerade Lemon Lime, Wild Strawberry, Blueberry, and Green Apple Popping Pears – $7.50

Provision

Oga’s Obsession – Odwalla Lemonade, Cotton Candy Flavor, and Blueberry Popping Pearls with a Bursting Dried Fruit Mixture – $7.50

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review beverages and snacks SWGE 12

Oga’s Obsession is basically jello with boba in it, and it’s good if you are in the mood for a gelatin.

Snack

Batuu Bits – A Light, Crisp Snack Mix from the Galaxy – $8.00

Ogas Cantina Opening Day Review beverages and snacks SWGE 2

Batuu bits is perfect salty bar food, and well-themed, too. There were dried fish pieces in there with crispy breads and such. Overall, this is really different for a Disney bar, and I suggest you try it if you usually like a snack with your drink.

We got a sneak peek at the coasters being offered at the cantina as well from Instagram user @sabrinalizette! One side of the coaster features a cute Ewok figure drinking out of a chalice. The other side features a cocktail with the stylized words “Oga’s Cantina” in the outline of the coaster.

For those of your curious, the Aurebesh on the right side says “Skyhopper”, which fits with the T-16 Skyhopper, a high-performance airspeeder, as depicted here.

We also got a look at a Rancor coaster that will be available at Oga’s. In Aurebesh, this one says “bloody rancor” around the top and upside down on the bottom it says, “Imported from Tatooine”. (Translating Aurebesh upside down isn’t easy, folks.)

In a tweeted response to a question regarding alcohol throughout the park, the Disneyland Annual Passholder account said that guests will be required to stay in Oga’s Cantina while enjoying alcoholic beverages. Lines for the cantina have also been among the longest for all the new offerings within the land, so plan accordingly. There is a limit of two alcoholic beverages per guest.

Do you think you’ll be able to make your way through a variety of these beverages during your time at Oga’s Cantina? Which ones are you looking forward to trying first?
