It’s a great day to be at Epcot! It’s going to rain later, but don’t worry: I’m prepared. Let’s see what’s going on in the park today.
Merchandise
A trip into Mouse Gear revealed tons of new goodies. What looks like the entire Toy Story 4 line dropped seemingly overnight! You can see our coverage of it all right over here.
There’s also a new line of rain wear for adults, including umbrellas! (We’ll need it for later in the day…)
This Tiki Room umbrella is possibly the cutest piece of rain protection I’ve ever seen. We’ve got pictures of the whole line here.
Feeling patriotic with Memorial Day around the corner? Well, this Magic Band’s for you.
Construction and Such
They were patching this scar up on the side of the old Universe of Energy building the other day. No idea what caused it, but it looks terrible.
We covered some updates to the new Japan signature restaurant coming to World Showcase recently. Just a couple minor things have changed since then.
This wall has more paint and finishing touches on it. This is a very strange entrance to the restaurant and I can’t quite wrap my head around it. I suppose it’s an outdoor courtyard of some sort.
The brick work in The American Adventure is almost complete. It looks fresh and clean.
Just a couple more spots left to finish.
Rainy Days
Rain is almost a guarantee when you’re in Florida any time between May and September. It’s going to happen, so you might as well be prepared.

You can watch the guests scatter like roaches!
When the rain picks up, you can duck into a gift shop for 10 minutes. By the time you leave, it will almost certainly have eased up.
This shop at the back of China is always a fun one. Lots of assorted merchandise they don’t sell anywhere else on property.
This bird has seen better days.
We’ve all seen Disney’s Mulan, but do you know the original story?
This fish basin has been here for years. One of these days I might just buy it to put it out of its misery.
One of my favorite parts of the China pavilion in the rain are these tiny little frogs! They swarm all over the garden area when it rains.
The rain didn’t really let up much today.
One of the downsides of rain is that many of the outdoor festival related activities close during inclement weather.
I believe this is one of the reasons there’s no Epcot festival during the summer. It rains every day!
The food booths look closed, but fear not!
You can order from the pick-up counter!
The flowers are just as beautiful in the rain. Don’t let the weather get the in way of enjoying the festival!
That’s it for today! I’m going to go home and put on some dry socks.
Speaking of merchandise, I remember in the day, Mouse Gear had a dedicated golf area. Basically nothing today, unless you head over to the golf pro shop. Is it because golf is now an Arnold Palmer venture?? I know lots of folks who would love to take home some golf goodies, but don’t want to specifically go to the Pro Shop. Any thoughts on this???
The bird is fine, it’s just resting.
He’s pining for the fields.
Great photos, thanks for posting! They really need to do something about drainage at that exit though, YIKES
Looks like a meteor hit Guardians!!!
