If you’re planning a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with your family and are planning on renting a stroller, you might get to test run a brand-new stroller model, thanks to stroller rental testing at the park. For a limited time, the park is testing out two different single- and double-stroller models that better adhere to the new stroller dimension rules currently in effect at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney Resort. Check out the new strollers below!
Single Stroller
Recommended for children 50 lbs. or less.
- Daily: $15
- Multi-Day (Length of Stay): $13
The polka-dotted lining is very cute.
The main issue people might run into over time is that while these are lined with coated, waterproofed fabric, they’re still fabric, which may make cleaning bigger messes an issue. So while these are arguably more comfortable (I’ll have to try one out) than sitting or sleeping on a plastic slab, they may not be the most hygienic in the long run.
Here’s a side-by-side with the older stroller models for comparison. (We can’t say we won’t miss the safari print on these.)
Double Stroller
Recommended for children 100 lbs. or less.
- Daily: $31
- Multi-Day (Length of Stay): $27
The strollers feature reclining seats and dual cup holders on both the front tray and the handles. (Talk about “Pimp My Ride”…)
See those yellow caps on the wheels and strips on the stroller body? That’s so Disney can differentiate between rentals and people’s own strollers. There’s bound to be a sea of them out there now.
The bottom and back side of the stroller features storage baskets and a number of handy straps to keep bags in place.
Upon testing out and returning these strollers, guests will be asked for feedback on the strollers to see if they will make viable replacements for the older models.
If you’d like to take the guesswork out of pre-purchasing a stroller for your trip, check out the latest “My First Disney Getaway” package that was released today. It includes a stroller rental per day, already worked into the package price.
The single looks like the City Mini GT. The double is definitely the Joovy Caboose Ultralight.
we own that double stroller, it’s actually a sit and stand if the back seat is removed. i will say it’s a bear to clean if it gets messy, so not sure how they are going to deal with that. we bring our own, but i would not want to rent a dirty stroller.
The first one is a Pathway Stroller. The second one is a Caboose Ultralight Too Sit and Stand Stroller from Joovy.
So one kid gets to spend their holiday looking at the back of a seat? Do I get a discount on their ticket?
And one parent gets to spend their trip lifting a possibly not so light kid in and out of the stroller instead of them being able to walk out themselves. I hope they include some icy hot with the rental.
Yeah, that is sad. I think it’s nicer for the kids to sit side by side and see all of WDW, sharing in the moments.
We rented a City Mini for a number of trips from an external company. It was always clean and spotless when we received it. (Not always so much when we returned it after 8 days of park use.) That being the case, there are good ways to clean these strollers if Disney invests in that.
All in all I think this is a great improvement, especially with younger children. Personally though, if I needed a stroller for more than 1 day I would still rent offsite. Both because it’s less expensive and also because I want the use of it getting to the buses and from the bus to our resort room when my child is most tired!
