REVIEW: New Space Sandwich, Awesome Mix Plate, Cosmic Cake, and Rocket Fuel Celebrate Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live at Liberty Inn in Epcot

It’s time to rock to the cosmic groove while stirring up an appetite because “Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live!” is back at Epcot! This out-of-this-world musical event features your favorite Guardians and their alien band jamming out to timeless classics from the ’70s and ’80s. And in addition to singing and dancing, Disney has whipped up some cool specialty foods and beverages just for the event.

At the Liberty Inn in The American Adventure pavilion, you’ll find quite the selection of specialty items…

Space Sandwich – $10.99

The Space Sandwich features barbecue pulled pork topped with crispy onions and served on a Kaiser bun with french fries.

The ill-named Space Sandwich is what you expect: a Disney counter service pulled pork sandwich. While the bun has been colorized, nothing is really different about this. The crispy onions are pretty flavorless, but the counter service pulled pork is of the same quality that it always is, which isn’t too shabby.

Awesome Mix Plate – $11.99

The Awesome Mix Plate includes french fries topped with barbecue pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, bacon, and lettuce.

Just as it is at Flame Tree Barbecue, pulled pork, cheese and fries is a winning combination. Here we add lettuce and bacon, in a plate that might be close to a pound of food. It’s a large serving that you can easily share. The Guardians are hooked on a feeling, but we are hooked on these fries.

Cosmic Cake – $4.99

This chocolate cake is filled with vanilla buttercream and space sprinkles

The Cosmic Cake is sweet and rich, with a really strong chocolate ganache flavor. It’s perhaps a little too rich to eat an entire one by yourself, but certainly not bad. The texture is light and fluffy, and the colorful interior will probably delight the kids (and maybe some adults).

Rocket Fuel – $5.49

Rocket Fuel is a frozen Coca-Cola slushy with grenadine.

The Rocket Fuel just tastes like a flat Cherry Coke and immediately began separating from the added ingredient inside the cup, as you can actually see in the above photo. There’s noting wrong with the regular Frozen Coke, so probably just stick with that.

These special offerings are available at Epcot through August 18th, 2019.
