D23 has just come to an end and the dust is settling at the domestic parks. Out here in Tokyo, however, we were absolutely shocked when it was silently revealed that Fantasmic! will be ending March 25, 2020 with no replacement currently. In addition to this shocking news, several other entertainment cuts were also announced, all coming March 31, 2020.
Lilo’s Luau and Fun is a lunch stage show at the Polynesian Terrace Restaurant that follows Lilo and Stitch as they try to put on a fun luau for the Disney friends! The show will close on March 31, 2020.
Ariel’s Greeting Grotto is a meet-and-greet with the continually-popular Ariel from the Disney classic The Little Mermaid. This one actually surprised me as the lines to meet her are consistently on par with lines for the Disney friends, and sometimes even Duffy!
Also ending March 31st will be the Jungle Rhythms drum group and the Robo Astro a cappella group atmospheric entertainment offerings at Tokyo Disneyland.
I’m fairly disappointed, but I think the Fantasmic! news still breaks my heart the most. Are you visiting soon? Do you have fond memories of any soon-to-be-gone offerings? Let us know below or on Twitter!
