Earlier today while checking out the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique that opened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, we noticed that a new photo op had taken over a prior seating area on the second floor of the resort.
That’s right, there’s a Beauty and the Beast backdrop set up by the seating area near the glass elevators on the other side of the second floor mezzanine. Now, if you recall the changes coming to the Grand Floridian Resort, then this new photo op might refresh your memory. The tie-in here is that guests who undergo a BBB makeover can then have a photo session here…
…but we all know this is really just setting the stage for the upcoming Beauty and the Beast-themed bar that is to replace the former Mizner’s Lounge and Commander Porter’s menswear store.
You can see construction walls for the upcoming bar all the way in the back. (To the right is the photo op area.)
Up around the corner is M. Mouse Mercantile, which still lives on today.
While some of the seating has remained, a photo mat has been laid over the carpet and a retractable backdrop installed.
The silver lining is, anyone can use the space and take a photo regardless of whether they’ve signed up for a BBB makeover. PhotoPass photographers will be located at the photo op daily until 3:30 PM. As far as the longevity of the photo op, it is unknown how long it’ll stick around for.
I’m not thrilled about all of these changes to the Grand Floridian. This is my home resort for DVC and I always enjoyed the elegant and tranquil feeling of walking through this area and the lobby when returning from a busy park day which now I’m afraid is going to be loud and crowded. :(
