Our last look at the construction site for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge showed the demolition of the old River Country and the flattening of land ahead of initial construction. Since then, little to nothing has really changed, but we headed out to Fort Wilderness to take a look at the latest update anyway.
The entire back right side of the Settlement, where Mickey’s Backyard BBQ and River Country used to be, is completely fenced off. From the edge of Trail Blaze Corral to the very edge of the beach, it is completely lined with a long green fence.
Beyond that fence sits a large open field, pretty much untouched. There are excavators in the distance, however from what we can see behind the fence, it’s all mostly just overgrowth.
Large piles of dirt sit off to the far right, and orange construction netting is in place across the middle section of the construction zone. Some of the larger trees are sectioned off. They may try to build around them or transplant them for the future Reflections resort.
There is an interesting difference in the color of the dirt. Some is orange and appears to be more clay-like.
After a heavy afternoon shower, much of the dirt was wet.
Not much going on over at the construction site for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge resort. Regardless, we’ll continue to keep an eye on the site as construction picks up around the area. Certainly the concept art seems far more interesting than anything on the ground for now.
Are you excited for this new resort offering or do you fear it could potentially ruin the untainted Fort Wilderness offerings?
I’m so upset that they are doing this. The best part of Fort Wilderness will be destroyed! The resort and parking lot will be backed up to the camping loops. It’s hard to believe that it will continue to feel like you are camping in the wilderness! The beach was a great place to watch the fireworks, that will be gone as well! They should have enlarged the campground. Walt Disney must be turning in his grave! Those in charge of Disney World’s future are greedy and only care about money! At some point, those of us that love Disney will stop going because of what it is becoming instead of what we love!
