In June, we announced that the seating area at Award Wieners in Disney California Adventure would be undergoing an extensive refurbishment. Finally, the refurbishment is complete! Along with an enhanced seating area is a new entrance to Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Sunset Showcase Theater, complete with a beautiful new digital marquee.
Sunset Showcase Theater
The entrance to Sunset Showcase Theater used to be located around the corner by Stage 17. This new entrance to the Theater, which currently houses Mickey’s PhilharMagic, is located right next to Award Wieners in Hollywood Land. The digital marquee is stunning in person and we bet the neon lights at night will really attract guests. It feels like this attraction finally fits with the theme of the Land.
The concrete of the entrance is painted red to look like a red carpet.
To the right, railings separate the entrance of Mickey’s PhilharMagic from the newly expanded seating area.
More tables now occupy what used to be the queue into the Theater.
As for the old entrance, the sign hasn’t been removed, but guests may be confused if they try to enter from this side.
And the tables that have occupied the former Theater entrance for the past couples of months are here to stay.
Check out our video of this newly enhanced area in Hollywood Land:
Are you loving the changes made to Sunset Showcase Theater?
Isn’t the theme Golden Age of Hollywood, i.e., 1930s, i.e, pre-dating digital display screens. Today’s WDI is terrible about syncing displays and other small details with an areas theme and time period. They used to get this aspect right, but ow its high-tech digital displays in all there pre-digital lands, at every park. It’s a shame.
