The witching hour is upon us, and it’s only a matter of time before the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2019. A few of the Halloween snacks at the Magic Kingdom are party exclusive, but those that are looking to conjure up a wicked snack during the daytime should look no further than this Hocus Pocus cupcake. Will it put a spell on us?
Well, we would definitely need to be under a spell to order this cupcake again. Or in desperate need of buttercream icing. At $7.99, this is one of the priciest Disney cupcakes we’ve seen. A white chocolate image of the Sanderson Sisters top off this villainous cupcake of epic proportions, but that’s where the fun ends and the nightmare begins.
It’s so cute, but looks aren’t everything.
The “cauldron cake” on top is very misleading. We expected it to be almost like a separate piece, but we noticed it was starting to melt quickly, and that’s because it’s about 95% black and green frosting. There’s basically a crumb of cake inside.
It was a struggle to get it out of the wrapper. When we tried to peel the paper away, we also noticed an odd layer of plastic, too.
There’s a sticky bottom layer of caramel sauce.
When we finally pulled off the outside wrapping, some of the cake was still stuck in the wrapper. Every piece of cake you can find is vital to fighting off this frosting monstrosity. The description says chocolate buttercream, but we didn’t taste anything but vanilla.
Okay, once you’ve stained your hands, clothes, and everything else around you, you can finally get to the cake. Once we actually tasted the cake, we were blown away. It’s very moist and super fresh. There isn’t any filling, thankfully, and it seems the caramel sauce adds that dense, rich taste to the cake. Subtle flavors of chocolate chips, peanut butter, and toffee work together just like Winifred, Sarah, and Mary.
If you take off some of the frosting, you’ll actually be surprised how delicious it tastes underneath. (Maybe this cupcake really did put a spell on us.) If you’re craving a super sugary, skip the trick or treating and head right for the Amuck Cupcake. Will you be hopping a broomstick and flying into the Main Street Bakery for this one?
