Disney has officially confirmed the closure of many locations in Epcot’s Future World Central over the weekend to prepare for the construction of elements of the re-imagined Epcot.
The final day of operation for the following areas is Saturday, September 7th:
- Fountain View and Club Cool (with elements of these expected to return sometime in the future)
- Colortopia at Innoventions East
- The Fountain of Nations
- Further, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy will relocate from their current locations at Epcot Character Spot and temporarily move across the breezeway to Character Spot North, where Baymax, Joy, and Sadness are currently located.
Construction walls will be erected around the Fountain of Nations, Epcot Character Spot, Fountain View, and Club Cool after Epcot closes on Sunday, September 8th.
The areas will likely be demolished to prepare for the construction of Epcot’s new Festival Center and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

they really need to just start the whole renovation already and stop talking about it.
At least for the moment, those embedded sidewalk lights near Innoventions West will survive for a while longer. I have little hope that they will be around for the long term.
It’s happening…..
