REVIEW: New Monster Halloween Cake, Halloween Minnie Mouse Cake, and Chocolate-Coffee Yule Log at Plaza Inn for Halloween 2019 in Disneyland Park
Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort is officially here, along with a long list of treats to try. If you have a sweet tooth just waiting to be indulged in this Halloween season, Plaza Inn in Disneyland Park has you covered with three desserts: Monster Halloween Cake, Halloween Minnie Mouse Cake, and Chocolate-Coffee Yule Log.
Monster Halloween Cake – $5.99
Chocolate Cake with Multi-colored White Chocolate Mousse, finished with Green Buttercream, Royal Icing Eyes, and Halloween Sprinkles.
To be honest, this isn’t my favorite slice of cake from Plaza Inn, but it isn’t bad. The cake itself is a little dry and not very dense. The frosting is great, though, and overall adds a much-needed freshness to the slice. It certainly lives up to the name based on looks and makes a cute Halloween dessert for photos for Instagram.
Halloween Minnie Mouse Cake – $5.99
Cinnamon Cake filled with Praline and crispy Cookies finished with Orange-colored Glaze, Sprinkles and a Witch Minnie Mouse Chocolate disc.
The praline and crispy cookie filling in this bundt cake is excellent. It pretty much tastes like eating a Kit-Kat, which I really loved. But overall, the bundt cake is a little dry. It does have a subtle cinnamon spice flavor that’s not too overpowering. So if you like cinnamon, but find the Coco Churro to be too much, this is a good alternative.
Chocolate-Coffee Yule Log – $5.99
Chocolate Sponge Cake wrapped around Coffee-flavored Chocolate Buttercream with Chocolate Pearls, finished with Chocolate Drizzle and multi-colored Pearls.
This is by far the best of the three Halloween dessert offerings at Plaza Inn. The coffee flavor is very prominent, so you need to like coffee in order to enjoy this. This dessert looks small, but for how rich it is, it should be shared between two people. The pearls add a nice crunch to the softness of the yule log. It’s finished with raspberry drizzle on the plate, which pairs really well with the rich chocolate and coffee flavors. We usually associate Yule Log desserts with the holidays season at Disneyland, but this is a really good Halloween Time offering.
