Disney Files Permit for Work in Innoventions East at Epcot as Part of Project Gamma

A permit filed with Orange County this week has the address for Innoventions East in Epcot’s Future World with the description “Project G: 202-1”. Project G aka Project Gamma is the name Imagineering uses when they refer to the project involving the complete reimagining of the entrance of Epcot, as well as the center of Future World.

While the permit doesn’t get into the details of the work, it was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, which indicates the work is meaningful and not just “general conditions” work. As we shared with you before, Electric Umbrella and MouseGear, both located in Innoventions East, are closing this winter as part of the reimagining of Future World into World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature.

The last permit filed for “Project G” resulted in the closing of Innoventions West, albeit the permit was a little more descriptive. We do expect work to start soon on Innoventions East as Electric Umbrella is slated to close November 24, 2019, per last available operating hours.
