Get ready to escape into the mainframe with TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom! Yesterday, we saw the first few pieces of track get installed, and overnight, it seems more pieces were also added. Let’s see what the software engineers have made progress on so far.
You can see how the launch portion (down by the lower right-hand side of the photo) then leads right into a curve that takes guests up and around the illuminated outer canopy portion of the ride. This section comes straight out from the show building, up overhead past guests entering and leaving the ride, and into the main show building.
Each piece of track needs to be assembled and bolted onto each of the exterior support beams.
A look at yesterday’s work gave us a bit of a size perspective from the construction worker to the massive size of the coaster track.
As work progresses, we’ll start to see this area become the outdoor illuminated canopy and attraction facade. For a look into what the completed attraction will look like, check out this video of its sister attraction, the TRON Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster:
The TRON Lightcycle Run coaster is scheduled to open at Magic Kingdom in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
