If there’s anything you took away from our recent Kona Cafe review, it’s that if you come here at all, come for breakfast. Just in for Fall is the latest Breakfast Special: Pumpkin Pancakes. We aren’t huge pumpkin spice people around here, but we had to try out these new pancakes, and we aren’t even mad about them.
The Pumpkin Pancakes breakfast special costs $14.00 and comes with a stack of pumpkin pancakes, topped with cinnamon butter, spiced pecans, and candied pumpkin, plus your choice of bacon, ham, spiced ham, or sausage.
We were pleasantly surprised at the hearty serving size, with three large pancakes stacked on top of each other and topped with powdered sugar and the aforementioned heavenly mix of candied pumpkin, cinnamon butter, and spiced pecans. The two sausage links were standard, but a good savory companion to the sweet pancakes.
The pancakes are packed with rich, pumpkiny flavor, and the cinnamon butter turned out to be a fantastic with a warm, spicy kick. The pecans added some necessary crunch and added spice, which was also great.
The only issue we have with these pancakes is that there wasn’t enough cinnamon butter on them! We definitely recommend asking for a tiny tub of extra butter if you’re up for it.
All in all, breakfast at Kona Cafe is never a miss, with hearty portions and well-prepared breakfast classics. The addition of new, seasonal pancake flavors makes us hopeful for the return of the classic Red Velvet Pancakes.
Those look mighty good. Last time I ate there the food was great.
