Today, we followed the smell of warm, delicious gingerbread and it lead us right to Saratoga Springs’ beautiful little gingerbread village! The gingerbread display is located in the Carriage House just past the check-in desk. The display is open for viewing from 9 am to 9 pm every day during the holiday season.
The display is a little village that mimics the Victorian and equestrian style of Saratoga Springs. Each of the buildings is placed on a table with fake, glittery icing snow underneath and tiny gingerbread stepping stones to connect each of the buildings.
First, we have a church with brown gingerbread walls, white icing snow and icicles, and decorative swirls on the front. The steeple of the church even features a gold sparkly star. Outside the church door are two tiny Christmas trees, and stepping stones that lead off to the side.
Next is a little pink bakery, which also includes icing snow and icicles across the roof. A three-tiered cake with Hidden Mickeys and a plate of cookies sit in each window, enticing the imaginary gingerbread village people to come in and buy some sweets. A wreath on either side of the building, as well as two small Christmas trees decorate the front.
In the center of the village sits a merry-go-round with horses and snowmen as the animals. The rest of the merry-go-round is covered in red and white filigree icing and several Hidden Mickeys.
Right behind the merry-go-round sits a yellow house and stable. The house has warm lights coming from each of the windows and it is decorated with tiny candy canes, a gingerbread man, a wreath, and two Christmas trees. There is a trail of candy rocks leading to a yellow stable with two gingerbread horses nestled inside.
Finally there is a post office with red brick icing and icing snow with a tiny little blue fondant mailbox.
As the cherry on top, there is a little fondant banner that reads “Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa,” sitting right on the table.
To commemorate this year’s gingerbread display, a Limited Edition Gingerbread Collection pin exclusive to Saratoga Springs is available. The pin features a frosted glass window with a snow covered ledge and holly around the border. The largest panel of frosted glass says “Disney’s Saratoga Springs 2019.” The pin opens on a hinge to reveal Belle in her pink winter dress and red cloak feeding Philippe an apple in front of a building decorated for Christmas. The pin has two pin posts and retails for $17.99.
