Ho ho ho! Merry Disney Christmas, everyone! It’s the holiday season at Tokyo Disney Resort, and that means a new slate of food to devour and review for you all! So, let’s take a closer look at the tasty treats to celebrate the season this year!
Hot dogs are par for the course at Tokyo Disneyland’s Refreshment Corner, but it’s not too often we see a special hot dog for seasonal events! And there’s even a special lunch case available with the set meal! Fortunately, this tasty treat won’t be too foreign to anyone familiar with ballpark food, since it’s just a cheesy chili dog. But how good is that cheesy chili dog? Well, you’ll just have to keep reading and find out!
Cheese & Meat Sauce Hot Dog Set – ¥990 ($9.08)
You might be forgiven for walking right past the Refreshment Corner on your way in to Tokyo Disneyland. It’s off to the side, wrapping around a corner of World Bazaar. But as theme park hot dogs go, these are normally pretty good! For Donald’s Hot Jungle Summer earlier this year, there was a cheesy vegetable chili hot dog with sauce drizzled on the sides, and it was one of my favorite menu items that season. Chili dogs aren’t a particularly common sight in Japan, so it’s like a little taste of home to me!
Let us take a moment and admire this adorable box the hot dog comes in! It’s ornamented with ride vehicles and iconic designs from Tokyo Disneyland attractions!
That window behind the hot dog promises “They’re big on taste and large on fun!”, so let’s see how it lives up!
Turns out, pretty well. The cheese and chili are very, very generously added, entirely eclipsing the sausage inside. Speaking of the sausage, it’s a bit stiff outside, but is balanced and well-cooked inside! The red bun is a neat, festive touch as well. Just be careful, because it’s really bad at holding all of the cheese and chili in. Seriously, I can’t stress how many napkins you’ll need to eat this with any semblance of cleanliness.
Souvenir Lunch Case – +¥1100 ($10.09)
For an extra $10, you can get this adorable Disney Christmas 2019 lunch case! Tokyo Disneyland’s designs this year feature more retro ’80s characters experiencing Tokyo Disneyland… in sleighs. Not that it snows very often in Tokyo, but it’s still super cute and festive!
Overall, this was one of my favorites at Tokyo Disneyland. The meal options for Christmas are rather slim compared to Halloween, but Refreshment Corner is definitely one of your best bets for a grab-and-go meal at the park! The Cheese & Meat Sauce Hot Dog set is available through December 25th. Stop on in today!
