PHOTOS: “Disney Christmas Stories”, Festive Foods, and Jolly Merchandise Revealed for “Disney’s Christmas” 2019 at Tokyo Disneyland
Is it that time of year already? The snow is falling, the tree is glowing…. oh no, that’s just the blazing sun in the Tokyo summer. But we can imagine it together with the news that “Disney Christmas” will be making its annual return to Tokyo Disneyland this year from November 9th to December 25th! I suppose like with craft stores, OLC wants to be earlier than Halloween, just to be safe.
This year marks the fifth (and hopefully final) year of the Disney Christmas Stories parade! This parade is themed around the ideas of spending the holidays with loved ones and the stories that come with them. Leading the parade is a float featuring a family-style Christmas with Donald Duck dressed up as Santa Claus, joined by Daisy Duck and his nephews. Another float features Mickey and Minnie sharing the holidays with their friends. The parade stops in Westernland and the central plaza, when bells start to ring for the start of a Christmas party! After the show stop, snow falls all along the parade route, and Guests are left with the spirit of Christmas!
Now here’s one annual tradition I love! This holiday season, Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade: DreamLights will be decked out in festive decor on almost every unit! In addition, the classic “Baroque Hoedown” soundtrack is infused with several Christmas tunes throughout the parade, to put a festive cap on your holiday visit to Tokyo Disneyland!
Every night (weather permitting), the skies above both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will light up in beautiful Christmas colors with the holiday fireworks show “Starbright Christmas”!
Even the park’s atmospheric entertainment will get in on the holiday spirit! The Tokyo Disneyland Band will play classic Christmas tunes in addition to their Disney repertoire, and the bicycling pianist will bring a jolly spirit to World Bazaar!
After taking a hiatus last year due to the Celebration Tower, the grand World Bazaar Christmas tree will be returning to our lovely version of Main Street! This tree is huge! It’s almost 50 feet tall, or about 15 meters.
Festive decorations will be in place all over the park, including these lovely dioramas in the plaza!
Even the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel gets in on the Christmas spirit!
Every night, a special new Christmas projection show will turn World Bazaar in to a holiday wonderland every few minutes! Oh, I can’t wait for this one!
About 65 different types of special merchandise with nostalgic designs of Mickey Mouse and the Disney Friends will be available! The primary design this year looks like everyone riding on a sleigh! It reminds me quite a bit of the Team Disney merchandise line that was just released. There will also be items like plush armbands and festive items that you can use at home!
In addition, about 70 different types of jolly merchandise will be available at both parks! These items will be themed to the characters, such as those adorable hats and sweaters above, as well as the cute SnoSnow characters making a return this year!
The Disney Resort Line will offer four types of special day passes, including one specifically themed to Christmas at Tokyo Disneyland!
Around 15 special food offerings are slated for this holiday season! Creamy seafood served in a cheesy bread bowl, a hot dog with white cheese in a red bun, and other dishes with a holiday touch will be offered! I’m already hungry just looking at what’s to come!
From November 3rd to December 28th, the Country Bears will be going on a Christmas vacation in the annual return of the former Walt Disney World classic “Jingle Bell Jamboree”, or as it was called in the US, “The Country Bear Christmas Special”! I love how Tokyo uses all three Country Bear shows through the year, and I am super excited to see this one!
And as with Halloween, the Haunted Mansion will remain transformed in to The Haunted Mansion: Holiday Nightmare! This spooky overlay stars Jack Skellington of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and will last from September 9, 2019 to January 5, 2020!
