BREAKING: Fantasy Springs Expansion at Tokyo DisneySea Delayed to 2023

The Oriental Land Company gave us some sad news today, it seems. After further research and planning, they’ve announced that the opening of the eighth port at Tokyo DisneySea, Fantasy Springs, has been delayed to 2023. Previously, the port was to open in 2022, likely following Tokyo DisneySea’s 20th Anniversary celebration. Now, the port’s opening will likely be a massive component of the Tokyo Disney Resort 40th Anniversary celebration. Other details, such as contents of the expansion, remain the same.

Fantasy Springs is a magical spring that leads to worlds of Disney fantasy. The new port consists of three areas inspired by Disney films beloved by Guests of all ages—Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan. By entering the new themed port and exploring its numerous springs, Guests will discover Anna and Elsa’s kingdom of Arendelle; the forest and tower where Rapunzel lives; and Never Land and—the home of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys. Guests will be able to experience these wonderful, fantastical worlds as no one has before. You can read more about the plans for Fantasy Springs in our announcement post from 2018.

While this is disappointing news, hopefully this means OLC can take their time and make this unprecedented and massive expansion even more incredible! Construction is already underway, and we’re keeping a close watch. Be sure to stay tuned to WDWNT for the latest updates on Fantasy Springs and the rest of Tokyo Disney Resort.

  1. I am honestly not to phased about the delays in plans regarding the expansions of DIsneysea.
I prefer OLC to take their time and get everything right than rush through the expansion and impact the quality of the end product.

Am not sure about the IP’s they chose for the expansion and wished they chose something bit more adult or less mainstream.
