REVIEW: New “Remember Me” Guava Hand Pie is Forgettable at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland

Magic is happening today with the debut of the newest daytime spectacular, “Magic Happens”,at Disneyland park. With the help of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, this incredible new parade comes to life with stunning floats, energetic music, artistic costumes, and now, thanks to some fabulous Disneyland chefs, a few deliciously magical eats and treats.

These brand new bites were created to celebrate the latest addition to the park’s lineup of fun entertainment offerings. Since the parade marches right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A., it’s only fitting that these items can be found at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Refreshment Corner, and Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. Today, we start our “Magic Happens” parade food tour at Jolly Holiday for the Coco-themed “Remember Me” hand pie.

The hand pie is beautifully decorated with orange-colored chocolate shavings made to look like marigold petals, soft purple icing, rainbow sprinkles, and sugar Catrina skulls from the Día de los Muertos traditions highlighted in the movie.

Disneyland truly excels when it comes to Instagrammable treats, and when it comes to these hand pies, they really stand out. There’s even edible glitter on them!

And now, for the ultimate taste test…

So while the outside of the pie screams “Remember Me”, the inside screams “basic guava pop tart.” This is just a basic poptart style treat filled with guava. Nothing out of the ordinary, but Disneyland has many other options that top this. It wasn’t bad, and it had a sweet fruity flavor that was pleasant. The outside shell is beautiful, and makes for a great picture. The gold chocolate on the outside was messy though, and melted on our hands (although, it is quite hot today.) The hand pie costs $5.49, and is available on Mobile Order.

You can find the hand pie along with the new Island Pork Toasted Sandwich at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe for a limited time starting today, in celebration of “Magic Happens.” Another sweet treat, a Sleeping Beauty cupcake, was also supposed to debut at this location today, but the bakers at Jolly Holiday have informed us that it is not yet available.
