Tarte aux Oignons Caramelises et Chévre: Goat Cheese Tart with Caramelized Onions on a flaky Pastry Crust – $5.50
The goat cheese tart was fine, but not worth the price. I mean, it’s good, but why pay that much for a tiny piece of bread with onions and goat cheese?
*NEW* Canard Confit à l’Orange: Braised Duck Confit à l’Orange with Mashed Sweet Potatoes – $6.25
Our crew gave this duck mixed reviews. Some really liked it, and others didn’t.
There’s a mashed sweet potato underneath, and it’s not awful, but nothing great, either.
The flavors are nice when you combine all bits. The sauce, meat, and parmesan chip combined made the whole better than the sum of its parts. Some of us loved it, and some of us tried to love it.
*NEW* Tarte Tropezienne, Coulis Framboise: Brioche Cake filled with Light Pastry Cream and served with Raspberry Coulis – $3.00
It didn’t look like much, but the pastry, filling, and the sauce surprised us. The raspberry coulis is thick with a strong flavor.
It might look like salt on top, but it’s actually a very delicate sugar crystal. Thankfully, it’s not too sweet.
The custard and cake are dense. The custard has a sweet light taste, but it’s pretty thick. We thought the ratio of bread to custard was perfect.
*NEW* Éclair Chocolat Framboise: Éclair filled with Raspberry and Chocolate Mousse – $6.50
Don’t let the picture fool you, this one disappointing eclair. One member of our team said it reminded them of burned Kid Cuisine brownie.
The bottom was hard and kind of crusty with absolutely no taste.
The flavor is bland and forgettable, with only the raspberry really standing out. Definitely pass on this one.
Kronenbourg Blanc 1664 Draft Beer (5.0% ABV) – $4.75
From Untappd: “1664 Blanc is an original wheat beer. It is a different, fresh and fruity white beer, slightly bitter with hints of citrus and coriander spices.”
*NEW* VeRy Raspberry: Rosé Wine with Natural Raspberry Flavor ($9/bottle) – $5.75
From Luneau USA Inc., VeRy Raspberry has “as pale pink color as the raspberry pulp,” with an aroma that’s “subtle and round on the nose with persistent aromas of raspberry.” They add, “fresh and silky on the palate, this wine is the perfect balance between good acidity and the roundness of the raspberry.”
*NEW* Bordeaux, Merlot and Cabernet Blend, Château Tarin ($10/bottle) – $6.00
From Luneau USA Inc., the Bordeaux has “dark brooding black cherry fruit enhanced by balanced acidity in the finish.” The blend is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy: Vodka, Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka ($28/bottle), St. Germain Liqueur ($32/bottle), White and Red Cranberry Juice – $
France once again brings an alcoholic slushy to the Festival. This time, it’s a very floral and fruity vodka concoction that’s a light pink color. It actually smells like a rose! The St. Germain Liqueur doesn’t overpower the cranberry and orange flavors, which makes for a well balanced cocktail. It’s cool, refreshing, and slightly fruity, which is just right. Recommended.
