Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger Appointed to California’s COVID-19 Business Recovery Task Force

Bob Iger has stepped up to the plate in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has now been appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom to become a part of the business recovery task force, a group of 70 highly-regarded business leaders designated to lead California out of the economic recession caused by the ongoing health crisis.

Bob Iger, currently Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, will be joined by the likes of Apple’s Tim Cook and former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s been quite active on social media, urging residents to stay at home since the very start of the pandemic. The task force will be meeting twice a month throughout the rest of the year. During a recent press conference, Governor Newsom stated that the chances of mass gatherings of any kind taking place across California through August are “unlikely” given the current lack of a vaccine for COVID-19.

While Iger’s contract with Disney is set to expire at the end of 2021, it’s unclear whether it’ll be extended as a result of his highly-active involvement with the company throughout the pandemic. Bob Iger, in an attempt to transition into retirement, has recently been faced with reasserting control and reimagining Disney in a time of crisis.
