While most construction projects around Walt Disney World have come to a stop during the COVID-19 pandemic, work on The Cove continues. The new hotel adjacent to the Swan & Dolphin Resorts continues to be a hive of activity. Nestled in the corner of land in the parking lot for Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf, workers continue to move the project forward.

From all around the nearby area at Walt Disney World, the large white and red construction cranes at the site dominate the skyline.

Approaching the site, workers are plainly visible around the site as various parts of the building continue to make their vertical journey towards completion.

Corridors and support beams are starting to form as each floor is added to the hotel.

Work on the east side of the hotel continues to move along as well, with rebar supports jutting out of the top-most layers to the future hotel.

The large cranes were working too, hoisting large batches of construction materials into place at the site.

The Cove will be an additional tower at the Swan and Dolphin and will include 349 rooms. When it’s complete, Marriott will have 2,600 rooms between the Swan, Dolphin, and Cove hotels. Are you looking forward to The Cove’s completion? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. You asked if I was looking forward to the completion of the Cove? Not really in all honesty. I am looking forward to the completion of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. How are things progressing there?

  2. No, not looking forward to it. The current crisis notwithstanding, there are too many hotels for the amount of parks/venues/things to do. Where does Disney think all these folks are going to go? You’ve got the Cove, Reflections, Star Wars Hotel, Riviera, many new hotels going up at Flaming Crossings. Keep adding hotels, fine, but give us a fifth park, and/or other new venues. Please?!

  3. Figures that the one thing they’re still working on at WDW is this POS generic eyesore of a hotel that will damage sightlines all around it.

  4. Why are some construction projects continuing (Cove and Reflections) but other projects that will affect guests experiences (painting of the caste, Epcot, etc) not allowed to continue?

    • To my understanding it depends on which company holds the contract to do the work. Some contracted builders are considered essential and can continue working while others cannot.

  5. Thanks for the information. Can you give an update on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser? I’ve been hearing rumors that construction has been halted all together and that it will not be finished!! Please look into this and say it is not true!!! Thank you.
