Aerophile, formerly known as the Characters in Flight balloon ride at Disney Springs has reopened today with modifications for social distancing.
The flights are dependent on weather, so if conditions are too windy, they cannot run tours. However, conditions were perfect today.
Here’s how the new social distancing setup works:
Social distancing markers have been set up throughout the basket. If the flight is full, all guests must remain in designated spots throughout the duration of the flight. If there are spots to move around without encroaching on the next guest, then they are free to do so.
Currently, Aerophile is working on testing out different things to provide the best experience for guests in light of the new guidelines. They may try having the entire set of guests rotate in tandem so they all get a 360-degree view, but because some people are nervous about moving once they’re up, that may not work in every case. They’re going to try things in the coming days to see what works and what doesn’t.
Prices for flights are $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 3-9. Children under the age of 3 can ride for free. The flights are wheelchair accessible, but those in ECVs must transfer.
Will you be heading over to Disney Springs to social distance in style aboard Aerophile? Let us know in the comments.
I’ve always wanted to do this, but am put off by the price. $20 for what is about a 5 minute attraction? Rather go the AMC and see a movie or go bowling.
